I have been serving as Lead Pastor at Countryside Covenant Church since 2006! Lynn and I celebrated our 30th anniversary this past year and have three grown children through our marriage, Micah (and his wife Jordan), Molly and Mattea.
Prior to coming to McPherson, I served as a pastor to students for 19 years in Lafayette, Indiana and Salina, Kansas. I am fortunate to be married to a woman who is called and gifted for ministry. She serves with me on our staff team as the Director of Adult Christian Formation and the Director for Crescendo (our 55+ adults).
Vision for Position: I love the fact that our church is known as a grace-filled church. We have seen many find a place of healing, belonging and purpose at this church. We are all in need of God's grace and are called to be dispensers of His grace to others. With that in mind, it is my vision to see every believer utilize their spiritual gift(s) for the purpose of encouraging and building up others in the Body of Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote:
“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith." - Ephesians 4:11-13.
Hobbies and Interests: I like playing tennis and pickleball with friends in our community. And I love spending extended time with Lynn on our days off. We have been known to take day trips to see our children or to visit various small towns to explore their unique attractions (i.e. museums, restaurants, shopping and, of course, historical sites such as the largest ball of twine.)
Spiritual Gifts: My primary gifts are all linked to my calling: Pastor/teacher, wisdom, encouragement and evangelism.
Favorites: I've got a sweet tooth ... which explains my need for regular exercise. I am fond of pizza, cheeseburgers and Buffalo wings (medium and barbecue). I am an avid sports fan and love reading biographies. Finally, I love Jesus, my family, my church family and our gifted church staff. I am a very blessed man.
