Psalm 91:1-16 (selected)

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” ….

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone ….

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Not too long ago during a church worship service, I was introduced to a new song, “Waymaker.” As I really, really listened to the words I was moved to tears as I saw the beautiful description of who God is and what He does for me …

“You are here, moving in our midst; You are here, working in this place. I worship You, I worship You.

You are Waymaker, miracle worker, Promise keeper, light in the Darkness, my God that is who You are!

You are here, touching every heart; You are here, healing every heart. I worship You, I worship You.

You are Waymaker, miracle worker, Promise keeper, light in the Darkness, my God that is who You are!

You are here, turning lives around; You are here, mending every heart, I worship You, I worship You.

That is who You are, That is who You are!

Even when I don’t see it, You’re working; Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working, You never stop, You never stop working.”

After those words settled in my heart, I found myself wanting to worship my God because of who He is and what He does for me!

Waymaker – God makes a way for us because He loves us and cares for us. When you can’t see a way out, God has it all figured out, He will make a way for you where there is no way. - Isaiah 43:16

Miracle Worker – God is in the miracle making business. Whether it’s in the birth of a baby or spring flowers that are popping out of winter’s cold, hard ground to the quiet of a stream or the majesty of a mountain range, God is at work! - Psalm 77:14

Promise Keeper – No matter what you face, the one thing you can be certain of are the promises of God for your life. Again, God cares and what we go through in life matters to Him. - Joshua 23:14

Light in the Darkness – Even in the darkest of places, He is never overcome. He lights our path, and shows us the way. He is our hope. - John 8:12

These lyrics and the accompaniment provide much encouragement to me. I encourage you to trust God and keep the faith by fixing your eyes on Jesus and not on the circumstances you face believing that God will do the impossible, He will make a way for you, where there seems to be no way.

Blessings to you as you hear these beautiful words. – Linda Totman
