What a different way of life we are adjusting to lately. Every week, if not every few days something is a bit different. New guidelines to follow, new precautions to take. We are all creatures of habit, so change is hard for us. Thankfully, our strength to endure this constant change, comes from our Lord, Jesus Christ. God knows the struggles we are facing every day and how difficult this situation is. If ever we needed to lean into Him, it is now. He is longing for us to do just that thing. Spending time with Him, to become more intimate with Him through prayer.

Being the creatures of habit that we are, we have all been adjusting into a new routine, new senses of normal. With our emotions heightened, coming out of the fast paced lives we were thrust into, many of us have more time to reflect inwardly; to ask God what we can be doing in this new season, what have we been disregarding, who have we been disregarding with the tenderness that He gives us? Now is the perfect opportunity to start new disciplines of prayer. Once done, prayer will become a habit, the best habit a Christ follower has! Prayer is where we see change. God longs to work together with us to bring about change for His kingdom, for the good of His people. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Eph 6:18 NIV

If you are like me, you have surely thought, God, what are you doing right now? I hope you are taking your questions, your emotions, your fears, to the safe place, where our strength comes from, through prayer. He will surely take this opportunity to bring the change that we need for our good. Our best interest is to work in tandem with Him. He gives us that great gift as well, through prayer.

If, as Andrew Murray taught, Christ intended prayer to be the great power by which His church would do its work, then certainly the neglect of prayer by the church is the greatest reason for its powerlessness. God has given us no greater means of bringing down His blessings and power upon our lives and work.

We must believe in Him for a new life of closer fellowship with Him, a life in His love and communion beyond anything that we have known thus far. Lord, make us giants in prayer!
