Wouldn’t it be great to know for certain how the next few months are going to play out?  To make plans, any plans big or small, without having to run them through the “Covid-19 Rubric?”  How might I use that knowledge to my advantage?

One of my favorite Bible verses comes out of the mouth of a pagan king whom the prophet Daniel advised.  The king wanted to know something and Daniel knew where to get the information. So Daniel prayed.

“The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.” (Daniel 2:47).   Like Daniel, this king learned that when I don’t understand, I know Who does! And I should take advantage of that.

“15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is.”  (Ephesians 5:16-17).

Do I understand what the will of the Lord is during this unique time?  Am I searching the heart of God, the revealer of mysteries, to know how to live during these unprecedented and mysterious times?  What might God have me uniquely do?

I was reflecting on this when my neighbor, Marilyn Postier, shared with me her own little mystery.  It’s what she calls “My CoVid19 Story.”  Marilyn told me:

“When our church was shut down in March because of the virus, I sent my check via mail.  I also wrote a little note expressing my concern.  That was on March 18.

“On Apr. 14 I received a letter from a lady in Port Author, TX.  It was in absolutely beautiful handwriting.  I was very puzzled.  When I opened it, was I surprised!  It was my check and card I’d sent to the church in March!  She wrote me a wonderful letter, including her testimony proclaiming why Jesus came and God’s plan of salvation through His son, Jesus Christ.  It was just beautiful and inspiring.  What a bright spot at this stressful time!  I will always treasure that letter.  I have written back to her and hope for a response.”

The woman in Port Author used the occasion of lost mail to tell someone about how the lost can be found in Jesus Christ.  She made the best use of time by taking advantage of the occasion.  She wisely understood that the will of the Lord is always that we share the good news of Jesus Christ with anyone who will listen!  And while Marilyn already knows the Lord, He used this letter to inspire and remind her of the hope she has in Christ.

What strange and unique circumstances are you in today?  God is the revealer of mysteries. If you ask, He’s willing to give you answers on how to live and share the Good News of Christ.

Marilyn finishes the story:

“Why did she get my card and check?  Well, I had not completed the address (senior moment?).  All I had was the name of our church, and PO #765.  That was her PO # in Port Author, TX!”

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”  Deuteronomy 29:29.
